Paul Nash: The Elements
Paul Nash (1889 – 1946) painted beautiful landscapes of the Downs, strange flooded rooms, and classic images of two World Wars. The exhibition includes paintings, watercolours and photographs from the whole of his career, showing how he selected elementary objects, to put them in relationships of conflict or harmony, and found pathways, nests and thresholds between them and within them.

To our great delight the Paul Nash exhibition has brought in lots and lots of people and the visitors' book is full of lovely comments like "The best exhibition I have ever seen..." so gratifying for us all at Dulwich! I had no idea that it would be such a popular exhibition, but everyone says how much they love Paul Nash and there hasn't been a Paul Nash exhibition in London for years and years... the cafe is thrumming with people and everyone looks happy - and the sales in the shop are really high. So if you haven't been yet, come... it's worth it. kate knowles (member of staff at Dulwich Picture Gallery)
:Had I seen this particular painting during my usual scanning quickly of exhibtions I confess that I would have hardly given it a glance, but the director's presentation brought it to life for me (despite the fact that I usually do not gretly welcome others' interpretations of art).
Thank you for making it interesting for me!
